Coming to know God

'When I was 18 years old, I went to a Christian camp where, to my surprise, I received the award for “Best Camper.” I didn’t even know there was such a thing, and at that time I wasn’t a Christian. But it was there that I first heard and understood why Jesus Christ died for us. That moment was something incredibly special to me.

However, as the years went by, it felt as if the seed God had planted in my heart had been stolen away. Life moved on, and I tried so hard to become “someone”—to succeed, to earn money, to become maybe a great actress or a great writer. But no matter what I imagined achieving, I knew deep down that none of it would truly fulfill me.

I remembered that camp, the feeling of being seen and valued by God in such an unexpected way. And I reached a point where I simply wanted to get away from everything that didn’t make sense anymore—away into nature, somewhere peaceful, just to talk to God.

And as soon as I spoke to Him about this desire, I received a message from someone I hadn’t talked to since that very camp: “Hey, aren’t you coming to camp this year?” It felt like God Himself was calling me back. I ended up going—for six weeks—and started serving there. From that moment on, my life changed.

There is so much more to tell, but what matters most is that I came to know God in a deeply personal way. He is so near to us; all we need to do is speak to Him. He answers in ways we could never imagine—so personal that you simply know it’s Him.

I joined this platform to make Christian friends and build a small community—both girls and guys. And who knows—if it is God’s will, maybe I will meet here the man who will one day become my husband, someone who shares a heart for mission.' - Oana
